Founded in 2010, the South Delta Chess Program has grown from having five to over twenty participants over the past several years. Students participate in a number of local, regional, and national tournaments throughout the school year. In so doing, they are able to travel to places that they might otherwise not be able to see, and they meet other competitors from all around the United States. By successfully competing against students from better-resourced districts from around the United States, our students are given the knowledge that they can put themselves alongside the very best and brightest young minds in the country.
This year, we are proud to announce that several students from the program will travel to New York City this summer to participate in a major chess tournament at the world-renowned Marshall Chess Club . This is the second time students from the program will travel to New York, though it is the first time for students who are attending this particular trip. This promises to be a wonderful opportunity for several very deserving young men!
