There is a lack of high quality pre-k opportunities for children across Georgia and in the Atlanta specifically. According to the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning, 5,000 students across the state are waiting to get into pre-k, which is voluntary for families and tuition-free. This year, for example, DeKalb County has 556 kids on wait lists, while Fulton has 553 and Gwinnett has 460. Moreover, Georgia spends only $3,891 per pre-k student while the national average is $4,967
Druid Hills Preschool (DHP) is a half day preschool program providing a loving and nurturing environment for the children of the neighboring communities since 1982. It is a community of learners: children, families, and educators from a variety of backgrounds. The school focuses on providing rich ethnic, cultural, and religious diversity and draws upon many resources to provide a foundation for lifelong learning in a diverse and interdependent world.
One of DHP’s signature programs is its scholarship fund that provides students otherwise unable to afford the type of high quality, pre-k education that DHP offers an opportunity to enroll in its school, tuition free. Please consider giving to this important scholarship fund.
