The purpose of this trip is multifaceted.  First and foremost our students will be staying on and visiting multiply colleges and universities, including: Mississippi Valley State, Alcorn, Jackson State, University of Mississippi, Mississippi State and University of Arkansas.  We believe that if our students are exposed to colleges, then they seem less foreign and more accessible.  The second purpose is to experience our state’s government by visiting the state capital and capitol building to meet our local representatives and governor.  The third and final purpose is to explore our local tri-state area by visiting Memphis and Little Rock.  At these locations we will be exploring museums and different sites in the city.  We believe that if our students have more experiences it enhances their education in a way that cannot be done in the classroom.  This trip will allow 20 8th grade students to explore and experience many new things at the beginning of June 2010.
