Support Offered

Since 2004 the Corps Member Education Foundation has offered Teach For America corps members, current and alumni, the ability to raise money to support educational opportunities for their students. All donations are tax deductible because CMEF is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization, an added benefit for donors, and our infrastructure allows our teachers to raise money through credit card donations, an added benefit for teachers who would otherwise not be able to accept credit card donations.

However, we are embarking on an exciting time of growth as we offer a wider range of services to better support Teach For America corps members committed to going beyond the classroom walls to provide even more educational opportunities for their students. In our conversations with these teachers we have heard about lots of big goals and dreams, whether they be to raise enough money to pay for their students’ college tuition or to plan field trips to our nation’s capital. During these conversations we also hear one common phrase: “…but I just do not know where to begin.”

To help these teachers, the Corps Member Education Foundation offers rubrics and exemplar documents from teachers who have successfully planned field trips, raised money for college scholarships, and many other initiatives to give their students experiences otherwise unavailable. Over the past five years, we have collected best practices and exemplars such as:

  • Fundraising letters
  • Lesson plans to help integrate field trips into long term plans
  • Letters and other communication documents for parents
  • Sample itineraries
  • Estimated budgets
  • Project plans with fundraising and communication milestones
