The Walk-athon

Last weekend we had the first ever East Side Spanish Booster Club Walk-athon. We walked for four hours and about 10 of our students came. They were so excited! They carried signs talked to every person on the street, and even got to talk to local TV. Unfortunately, I had to talk to local TV too. Normally I would hav ebeen thrilled about the opportunity to get more exposure out to the community aobut what we are trying to do but I had the flu and sounded like death. Great. I don't have a TV and didn't see it but a bunch of students mentioned it on Monday. When I asked them what they thought about what we said and how we sounded they all avoided the question. Oh well.

We are preparing now for a raffle drive at Wal-mart the first few Saturdays in December. The kids are enthusiastic. They love the idea of talking to people and selling tickets. We are hoping to raffle off a gas card. Really though this plays to all their talents. Talking, moving, enthusiasm... Should be fun. Coats will be mandatory of course! I don't know why they all come to school without them, and wearing shorts in 40 degree weather. At least, until I realized that they probably don't have other clothes.
